1 Question asked about Folding Casement Handle
Q Joan McDonald • 01/29/2018, 1:39:31 PM I have these in my home and the pin in the handle pops up on all of them. Can you tell me how to put the pin back and prevent it from coming back up? Thank you.
A 01/30/2018, 1:57:19 PM Hi Joan, The "roll-pins" are factory installed and not intended to come out or to be replaced, so, other than replacing the folding handle, we're not sure what can be done. I can say that typically roll-pins are designed to be a pressure fit and are not supposed to back out as it sounds like yours is doing, so you may try tapping them back into place using a light hammer. Also, a possible cause could be that your casement hinges have become corroded which makes the window hard to swing and puts undue resistance on the operator which is opened by using the folding handle. If there is a lot of resistance on the folding handle it could possibly be causing the roll-pin to back out. In many cases when the hinges are corroded and stiff, the operators worm drive gear, which is attached to the handle, breaks, and backs out of the operator, which requires complete replacement of the operators. So, it's always a good idea to clean and lubricate the hinges which will help all other components of the window last longer and without issues.
